The language of flowers shares with us the meanings of flowers and we have used this information for centuries to not only better understand our natural environment, but also ourselves. This language was developed throughout the centuries and across cultures as a way to pass along vital information about plants and their possible usage. It is based on visual and sensory aspects, such as taste and smell, as well as known usage, environmental and growth behaviour.
When we use the language of flowers to give floral gifts, fill our spaces with their bouquets or even create botanical infused therapies and products, we can enjoy the emotional connection to these meanings for a possible strengthening or calming influence.

Flower Reading Cards is a beautiful book and card set by Flower Therapist Cheralyn Darcey and Rockpool Publishing.   The Cards The 36 cards and book are housed in a sturdy box that closes magnetically. I love the boxes that Rockpool makes. They make accessing the deck and putting it away equally quick. Some of their decks come with a cardboard insert for the cards to fit in, and some have a plastic one.

Fresh as a flower and just as vibrant, the colorful 44 cards of the Australian Wildflower Reading Cards are reproduced well from hand-crafted ink prints that have been painted with colors. Cheralyn Darcey is both the book writer and illustrator for these refreshing images. The cards are sturdy yet flexible in use, somewhat large at 3 ¾ x 5 ½ inches with rounded corners. They shuffle well and the Flannel Flower card back design is pretty although not distracting when drawing cards.
